Youth Central is a learning resource center for youth. It provides a safe place to hang out, do homework, research, and just chill. Cafe' central is one of our groups that get together to chat and do games, on-line tournaments and poetry readings. A variety of coffee drinks are provided. Youth Central also houses a Teen Help Line 1-877-TEEN-211 which can offer guidance to all ages.
We are a non-profit organization that totally relies on donations and sponsors. We are always looking for fun ways to entertain the youth while also doing "fun-raisers" to help keep our organization going. You can check us out or e-mail us at: teens@youthcentralaiken.org
Youth Central would love to hold special events but as of now the over head support is more important.
Youth Central targets youth ages 12-19 but we also help and offer assistance to families and young adults. Our toll free number 1-877-833-6211 is open to anyone.
Youth Central is on a month to month budget depending on the businesses and comunities it serves to stay available for the youth. It has has been very difficult but we have managed. We find that when it looks like we have to close someone steps up and helps. We appreciate everything everyone has done for us!!!
It would be very assuring to have a grant or major sponsor step up and support us for an entire year. Then maybe more granters would see it is a worthwhile program to help support. I am the director and I don't make a paycheck doing this. I feel it is a need and I'mm fullfilling it for the community. What I want is to break even to so we can provide the supplies to keep the computers going and the items needed to for resources and workshops for the families.
