METRO Coffee & Wine

Background

We opened in June 2005, with a secondary mission of providing the best coffee & tea drinks in our town. Our primary mission is to create crossings of demographic boundaries and intentionally build a community that is reflective of the diversity of our community.

Keys to Success

We use coffees roasted by Counter Culture, and we don't sell or use any coffee that's more than 10 days from its roast date. The freshness is evident in every cup. We have also created relationships with many groups of people and make our space available to them in affordable & convenient ways. And we have a hot new chef who produces dazzling delicious and very affordable bistro fare.

Special Events

Jazz/Swing band on Tuesdays, entertainment on weekends, soup groups starting soon (discussion groups). A home for many small groups & programs.

Target Customers

Every ethnicity and race, every age, every gender, every political stripe, every sexual orientation, every ability including disability; we seek to build a diverse clientele whose participation enriches us all.

Challenges Faced

We are currently facing the challenge of being in the epicenter of the real estate meltdown. Frankly, we're not sure we'll make it through this. That said, we've got great new staff providing excellent service & amazing food.
