Kuppa Koffee

Background

Kuppa Koffee opened in September of 2005. We are located in a very small town - Covington, IN. There wasn't anything like it in town and I wanted to bring a little bit of the big city to a small town. It has been very well received! We renovated what was the old Covington City Building. It was masked as an office space with paneling on the walls and drop ceilings. We basically brought the old building back to life, the best find was the tin ceilings which were still in fairly good condition. We feature a drive-thru as well, which helps our business considerably. It has been fun educating people on the different types of coffee drinks and chai tea, we now have a Starbucks located in Danville, IL (about 15 miles away) and we get a lot of comments about how they like our drinks better! Gotta love living in a small town!! It's been a little over two years, we're going strong and loving it!

Keys to Success

Customer Service!! Consistency with our drinks. Atmosphere. Great employees.

Special Events

Entertainment usually on Thursday nights with a dinner special. Valentine's/Mother's Day dinners. Street Concert and Apple Fest which takes place the first Friday and Saturday in October.

Target Customers

Professionals in town, tourists passing through (we have a lot of antique shops), teens, pretty much everyone!

Challenges Faced

It's a very small town. Even if we were the greatest in everything we did, it still would be difficult to increase sales. The town only has 3,000 people so we're constantly trying to create/add different things and keep up with our marketing. Staying competitively priced within our area but still making enough of a profit (still working on that one!)

Where We're Headed

To be an established business in the community. Still bringing new things to our small town!
