Background
Kaffee-Klatsch Coffee House opened August 10, 2004. I had a dream to one day own and operate a coffee house and did just that. It took four months of 14 hour days to get the doors open. We did most of the work ourselves to cut cost. I am a contemporary coffee house located in the downtown business district. We have all walks of life walk thru the doors, which sometimes makes for an interesting day. Kaffee-Klatsch has a New York style atmosphere, plasma tv, wi-fi, outside seating (not overlooking a parking lot). Tables and bars we designed and made ourselves. It has been hardest yet most rewarding thing I believe I have ever done.
Keys to Success
Definetly consistency in every area, but especially in customer service. I have found that attitude and a good cup of java is everything.
Target Customers
I aimed for the professional market. I am across the street from the county courthouse and 3 blocks from a hospital. I am thankful that they all have been good to me. We also have about 6 downtown parades and events that pass right in front of the store, and I call those bingo day's!!
Challenges Faced
Challenges, what a word. I have experienced lots.
Where We're Headed
My main goal is to be debt free and we are almost there, and in five years I would like to see my coffeehouse more aggressive, expanding into a lunch menu., a web site to blog on, and other things that give the oppurtunity for people to come in all day long.
