Highway 61 Coffeehouse

Background

My wife, Lesley Silver, and I have operated the Attic Gallery (http://atticgallery.net) in downtown Vicksburg, Mississippi for more than 35 years. When we moved into our present building 10 years ago, we decided the downstairs should be a coffeehouse. It has taken us 9 years to decide to do it ourselves.

We are located downtown on Washington Street, which is the old Highway 61, that legendary Blues Highway celebrated in Bob Dylan's classic album. The highway parallels the Mississippi river on a journey from New Orleans to Memphis and beyond. We are situated within a short drive from several major folk art sites.

We strive to be a place where coffee culture and Southern culture intersect.

Where We're Headed

It would be wonderful to have the project paying for itself. Beyond that, I cannot dream.
