Background
We opened our doors three years ago. We took a boring, white, rectangular space, and created a little touch of Hawaii in the gloomy Oregon countryside. Our purpose was to have a wonderful place to do church and spread a little ALOHA through coffee done right. To make things a bit more interesting, we also became the Damascus Post Offfice.
Keys to Success
We are the only Hawaiian coffee shop in Oregon. We specialize in a taste of Hawaii in the NorthWest. Our espresso is a custom-roasted blend of Hawaiian beans and espresso. Our brewed coffee is only $1 for the most amazing Hawaiian coffee around. You might have to get out of your car to sample our coffee, but it is well worth fighting the rain. The real key to our success is the Aloha we share with our customers and our love of God.
Special Events
We have daily specials according to the paint on our door. Read carefully!!

Challenges Faced
Our prices are really low, and this makes it hard to cover expenses. Tough choice on what to do!
Where We're Headed
Michael says we are on the 10 shops in 10 years plan. We'll see if that happens.
Best Coffee Shop in Oregon!
This coffee shop is my home away from home. The coffee is wonderful, the owners and workers friendly and helpful, but what draws me here is the atmosphere. The minute I walk in I can feel it; and it draws me back again and again. There is a comfortable couch and chair on one side, and my friends and I spend a lot of time knitting, drinking our chosen beverage, and talking. I see others doing the same at the cute tables and chairs scattered throughout the building.
Many times people from my community whom I haven't seen in years and years will come into the shop, and we have a mini-reunion. I treasure such times, and never know who I might run into next time I go in.
I was born and raised in Hawai'i, and the ambience helps me to feel less homesick. I love hearing Hawaiian music playing, seeing the tropical decorations and hearing the staff say "Aloha, Hawaiian Beanz!" when they answer the phone.
Now we have our own Post Office there too; how handy is that!
Hawaiian Beanz is more than a coffee shop. It's family. Everyone who comes in is part of a special community that can only be found in this little corner of Damascus, and I'm so glad I am privileged to be part of it.
