Background

Enrico's Tazza D'Oro was established in 1999. We choose a location outside a main business district to distinguish ourselves immediately. At the time, we did not want to be clumped in with other coffeehouses in main business districts who were providing an average product. We marketed our product as unique and high quality. We wanted to become a destination for our customers. From the very beginning we have focused on training, quality and a passion for coffee.

Challenges Faced

Cost of doing business - changing technology/equipment and changes in the coffee industry, competition based on prices and convenience. We have continued to focus on intensive staff training, quality of our product and our relationship with Batdorf and Bronson. Communication with our customers, through marketing, about vision and value has been critical.

Where We're Headed

We would like to continue to strengthen our reputation as a cultural oasis where a community of people gather and connect. We want people to seek out Tazza D'Oro because we have established ourselves as a premier espresso bar, bringing the highest quality espresso and coffee to the Pittsburgh area.
