Crossroads Cafe

Background

We are a startup cafe that is community oriented.

Keys to Success

Excellent customer service is like OTTFFS. It's a simple great thing, but people want to make it so difficult.

Special Events

Let's just get opened.

Target Customers

Our target is the community. If you want the nuts and bolts, yes our business plan says 15 to 33 years old. However, it's more than that. We are targeting people in the community that want good homemade cafe food and coffee, at a reasonable human price, in a family friendly environment.

Challenges Faced

Getting the county to see what each hand is doing. We were supposed to open in July, "The county is requiring the grade to be raised", ok...December...."The county is not happy with ....", ok.....February.

Where We're Headed

We are headed to fill a much needed service to the community. Expand into catering and delivery and expand into other communities.

Grade?.....

What do you mean by Grade. If you mean all the health and county bldg codes, do your home work with them. Go to them first and get to rules. Read them and ask a lot of questions of the inspectors and folks at the various departments. Put them on the spot by asking them if you do not understand an item. A little conversation and "This is what I want to do, will it be alright and this is the way I understand. these issue questions will cut through a lot of surprises later. Do not expect the govt. folks to be on your side if you do things by guess and by golly. Have the rules in front of you and ask the questions to clarify the issues.

Another thing take "Serve Safe", a few credentials behind the business impress' the folks who have to certify you as a food service establishment.

You should go check out the forum topic on building start ups. Sounds like we all have similar nightmares.
