The Center opened in March of 2008. The dream was to have a place where we develop community and serve the people of our town.
Our greatest draw (in a town with almost no internet service) is free computer use, internet, and wi-fi. We are also finding that developing relationships with people is a the most important part of them becoming regulars.
We regularly host game nights, movies, art classes, music classes, film and book discussion groups, community service projects, and live music.
While we are here to serve everyone, much of our focus is on teens and young adults.
Finances has been are biggest challenge. We are a non-profit venture and have relied only on contributions to fund the start of the Center. Even though this has been difficult, our community has really come through and we have seen all of our needs met.
We want to expand into serving sandwiches and fresh desserts in addition to our coffee drinks and snacks. Our goal is also to expand our facilities to include meeting rooms, more computer space, a used bookstore, and a larger kitchen.
